UT Police at Houston maintains a community distribution list to create a quicker line of communication between our department and our community. Subscribers receive our departmental newsletter, special alerts, timely warnings, crime and safety bulletins, and class announcements*. As a subscriber, we ask you to assist in disseminating the important information we share with your MD Anderson or UTHealth Houston colleagues, classmates and friends in order to enhance our community's safety.

*Please note, requests providing a non-institutional (MD Anderson or UTHealth) email address cannot be processed.

Subscribe to the Community Distribution List

We ask subscribers to consider adding emails to employee bulletin boards. Subscription to our community distribution list compliments, but does not replace:

• Emergency notifications and timely warnings via text message and telephone messaging. Refer to MD Anderson or UTHealth Houston's processes for emergency text alerts and emergency notifications.
• Your department or institution's announcements via email or intranet notices.

We also share bulletins directly with the communications teams at both UTHealth Houston and MD Anderson for posting to their intranet sites.

The Risk Operations Center is responsible for radio communications, telephone communications, Teletype and automated data communications, the monitoring of departmental alarm, card access and video systems. Issues managed by the team include:

• Reports of suspicious activity or criminal activity
• Reports of behaviors of concern.
• Inquiries on lost and found property
• Requests for personal safety transportation service
• All police and security issues

Do you have a new employee who needs badge access to your work area? Do you need access to a certain building or room on campus?

Submit the following information to UT Police's Security Risk Operations team. MD Anderson employees may call 713-79-BADGE, or x22343 or send an email to [email protected]. UTHealth Houston employees may call 713-500-UTID (8843), or send an email to [email protected].

• Your name
• Employee ID number
• ID badge number (located on the back of your badge)
• Room number to the area you need to access

All requests have to be reviewed by the Departmental Access Approval Authority for the area where access is requested, according to the MD Anderson Identification Badge Policy (ADM0282) (credentials required) and UTHealth Houston HOOP Policy 148 Identification Badges.

Campus safety

Your employee ID badge is proof that you belong at MD Anderson and UTHealth Houston, and you're required to wear it at all times while on campus. When using your ID badge to enter a secured area, always be aware of tailgaters trying to slip in behind you. When someone is close enough to take advantage of a door opened with your ID badge, try to locate the person's ID badge.

When you encounter strangers without ID badges in restricted areas, offer your assistance. Help them find their destinations or direct them to building entrances where public safety officers are stationed. If someone's responses or demeanor seems suspicious, call UT Police at 713-792-2890. Always call 911 if you're in immediate danger.

Fingerprinting is not just for criminals. Often, individuals applying for state/federal licenses (medical, nursing, peace officer), visas or security sensitive positions require official fingerprinting by a law enforcement agency. UT Police offers this complimentary service to MD Anderson and UTHealth Houston faculty, staff and students by appointment only.
