UT Police Earns CALEA Reaccreditation, Reinforcing Commitment to Excellence

UT Police at Houston has received reaccreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), reaffirming its commitment to professional excellence in law enforcement.
First accredited by CALEA in 1994, UT Police has continuously met rigorous national standards to maintain its accreditation. The division recently underwent a comprehensive evaluation by CALEA assessors, who reviewed all aspects of its policies, procedures, administration, operations, and support services. This extensive process ensures UT Police continues to uphold best practices in public safety.
During the recent CALEA Conference in Garden Grove, California, Vice President, CSO, and Chief of Police William Adcox and CALEA Accreditation Manager Everton Long, received the Certificate of Accreditation. The award was presented by Commission Chairperson Matthew Packard and Executive Director Craig Hartley.
"Earning CALEA reaccreditation is a testament to the collaboration and support of the Institutions we serve and the hard work and dedication of our entire department," Adcox said. "It reinforces our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in law enforcement and continuously improving our policies and practices to best serve our community."
CALEA commended UT Police for its dedication to maintaining professional standards, highlighting the division’s successful self-evaluation, independent review by assessors, and approval from CALEA Commissioners. The accreditation is valid for four years, during which UT Police must maintain continuous compliance with CALEA’s evolving standards.
The CALEA accreditation serves as a mark of distinction in law enforcement, signifying that UT Police at Houston meets the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and service.
