Hill Country Career Awaits in Bastrop

Working with UT Police’s detachment team in Bastrop, Texas offers workforce members the charm of small-town living with the ability to contribute to MD Anderson’s mission to End Cancer.

Located just outside the hustle and bustle of Austin, the Bastrop campus offers professional opportunities and a quality of life that many desire.

Captain Wayne Smith, who has worked in Bastrop since 2014, chose to work at the campus because of its small-town feel.

“Our small, close-knit team creates a strong sense of community, where you'll have the chance to get to know almost everyone by name,” Smith said. “And you won’t have to worry about paying for parking, which can be a huge perk.”

Bastrop is an ideal place to work and the opportunity to live life at a slower pace. For those who love the outdoors, its proximity to the Hill Country, state parks, hiking trails, and camping make for an ideal location to live and work. The Bastrop campus is vast and wild, and lends itself to encounters with local wildlife, such as cattle, deer, and owls.

Last year, Public Safety Officer Bethany Hoefer rescued a Great Horned Owl entangled on a barbwire fence.

Like all MD Anderson employees, Bastrop team members enjoy comprehensive benefits, including competitive salaries, health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
