Safety Challenge: Attend Three Safety Presentations in 2024
January 04, 2024 By: Officer Leston
Most weeks throughout the year, UT Police hosts three general audience safety presentations virtually for the MD Anderson and UTHealth Houston communities that we serve. In the new year, UT Police invites the community to commit to attending these three most popular safety presentations.
Register for an upcoming presentation here.
Workforce members and students can register for Active Shooter Prevention and Response on most Mondays. Attendees to this presentation in 2023 provided these comments:
“Each time I attend this presentation I learn something new. I have already recommended it to my boss for a departmental presentation since we are moving to 1MC in the summer with an open space concept instead of individual offices. We will need ideas of Run-Hide-Fight.”
“Very informative; presented in a way I understood content; ideas presented that could literally save lives.”
Similarly, on most Wednesdays, UT Police hosts the General Campus Safety presentation to help our community curtail crime:
“Engaging and informative. I am a new hire so there is a huge learning curve. I want to become familiar with all of the departments here at UT. I think it is helpful to know who to contact and what to do in the event of an emergency. I also love that an actual officer provided information about safety and prevention from his perspective.”
“Session was educational and the speaker excelled at keeping the group interested which can be difficult over Zoom.”
The last safety topic hosted on most Thursdays is Don't Fall For It: Scams and How to Spot Them:
“I enjoyed the videos and real-life scenarios that were shared. It really brings it home to be able to speak to events that actually took place.”
“Officer Leston is a great presenter and clearly knowledgeable about the topic and I also found the videos really helpful and interesting.”
We encourage our community to take the challenge of attending all three safety presentations in 2024.
Additional safety presentations are offered on a monthly basis and groups can also request classes that fit best with their team’s schedule.
A full list of the presentations is available on our Safety Classes webpage.
