Public Safety Officers, Police Officers Offer Safe Escorts on Campus

When facing a safety concern, request a courtesy escort to your vehicle by calling 713-792-2890.
UT Police at Houston works closely with the community to ensure MD Anderson and UTHealth Houston remain safe places to learn, work and live.
UT Police offers a Safety Transportation service designed for community members with safety needs who would like a public safety officer or police officer to accompany them to their destination. This service includes vehicular escorts, transportation in a UT Police vehicle, or pedestrian escorts, where an officer accompanies the individual on foot.
Based on availability, this service provides escorts to and from locations owned or operated by MD Anderson and UTHealth Houston in the Texas Medical Center, including parking garages and lots.
The courtesy escort is intended for safety needs rather than convenience. UT Police encourages users to call ahead, when possible, as wait times may vary depending on staffing levels.
To use the Safety Transportation service, call the UT Police Risk Operations Center at 713- 792-2890 and request a courtesy escort. A police telecommunicator will ask for the caller’s name, the number of persons being transported, the point of origin and destination, and will provide an estimated wait time.
The service is available from sunset to sunrise, seven days a week.
According to Melba Doyle, Public Safety Supervisor, "Every time a person rides the UT Police shuttle, they are always appreciative of the service," Doyle said. "When the service is not available, the UTHealth and MD Anderson shuttles are always a great alternative."
This valuable service underscores UT Police's commitment to fostering a secure environment for all members of the MD Anderson and UTHealth Houston communities.
