Job Description: Police Cadet
The University of Texas Police at Houston (UT Police) is staffed with a dedicated team of sworn and civilian professionals that serve, protect and preserve the “daily campus life” at the number-one cancer center in the nation, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the prestigious University of Texas Health Sciences Center (UTHealth). This position is ideal for entry-level applicants who have no police experience and would like to break into the Law Enforcement field. The salary starts at $38,500 commensurate with experience. Upon completion of the academy, the cadet will take the TCOLE licensing exam. If the cadet passes, they will be promoted to the police officer position which starts at $52,000.
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Required: Valid Texas Class A, B, or C driver's license. Applicant must also be a U.S. citizen.

The department offers competitive pay and excellent benefits. The starting pay for all positions is on a sliding scale commensurate with experience. UT Police offers tuition reimbursement through a cohort (up to $5,250 a year). Excellent benefits are provided to UT Police employees, including paid health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays and the opportunity to earn up to 24 additional hours of time off based on performance.
